La vittima è una 13enne indiana, salvata dalla polizia dai suoi aguzzini e ora al sicuro in una casa di accoglienza statale. Il fatto è avvenuto nella città di Kottakkal, nello stato meridionale del Kerala, dove le autorità hanno arrestato la madre e il patrigno dell'adolescente con l'accusa di averla obbligata per due anni ad avere rapporti sessuali a pagamento. Secondo quanto riferito da alcuni media locali, la donna - una 37enne madre di sette figli tra i 24 e i 4 anni - faceva pagare 3.000 rupie (circa 47 dollari) agli uomini che volevano fare sesso con la figlia. A preoccuparsi di trovare i clienti era invece il patrigno, un autista 55enne che durante il suo lavoro 'metteva in vendita' la ragazza mostrando la sua foto ai passeggeri che trasportava. La polizia ha detto di aver individuato 25 dei 40 clienti che hanno presumibilmente pagato per fare sesso con l'adolescente. Atri dieci, tra cui un broker, sono stati arrestati in relazione al caso. Già nel 2011, la polizia del Kerala aveva arrestato il padre di una ragazza di 17 anni, per averla costretta a fare sesso a pagamento con oltre 200 uomini.
